This Saturday afternoon, the York University Lions women's rugby team took on the Western Mustangs in their second game of the 2026 season. After finishing last season with a 3–3 record and making their first playoff appearance since 2019, the Lions looked to build on that momentum. 

Western came out strong in the first half, putting pressure on York's defense and taking control of the game. The Lions continued to battle through the physical match but entered halftime trailing. 

In the second half, York continued to fight as Western extended its lead. Despite the Lions' defensive efforts, the Mustangs maintained their momentum until the final whistle. 

The Lions ultimately fell 84–0 and will look to regroup as they continue their 2026 campaign.
