The York University Lions women's rugby team will be looking for their first win of the season on Saturday when they travel to Laurier to face the Golden Hawks in Waterloo in a rematch of the 2025 OUA quarterfinal.

The Lions come into this one following a loss last week against a strong Western side which remains undefeated on the young season at 2-0. The Warriors have had a solid start to the year sitting at 1-1 on the season with a win against the Toronto Varsity Blues in their opener before losing last week to Guelph Gryphons.

These two teams saw each other twice in 2025, including in the season opener. Laurier walked away victorious in that game at Alumni Field by a score of 59-28. The teams then met in the opening round of the OUA playoffs at Laurier, a game that was much closer than their season-opening affair, but ended with the Hawks winning it 27-21 to end the Lions season. The Lions will look to avenge that loss and match their play against Laurier from the 2024 season, when the Lions earned a convincing 43-19 win over the Golden Hawks on Sept. 21 of that year.

Saturday's match is set to start at 12 p.m. at Laurier's University Stadium in Waterloo.
