Box Score The York University Lions men's basketball team stormed out to an early lead against the Rams, but a late comeback by the home team foiled York's attempts at a second win of the season.
Despite
Chevon Brown's 39 points, the Rams staged a fourth-quarter comeback and ultimately came away with a 100-97 victory in a game where both sides went toe-to-toe and scored often.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just like in their series opener against No. 1 Carleton earlier in the year, York started hot against the Rams and came away with a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
- The Rams would then outscore York in each quarter from there, but by small enough increments to keep the game close. They would take the lead for a final time at 1:57 of the fourth quarter, when an Aaron Rhooms jumper was good to put his side up 73-72. They held on until the end of the game.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- Brown had a night for the ages in the loss for York, producing 39 points while going 9-for-18 beyond the arc.
- Prince Kamunga wasn't much worse — he had 29 points and was one rebound away from a double double.
- However, Somto Dimanochie was a Lion who produced a double double. He had 15 points on the night and as many rebounds.
LOOKING AHEAD
These two teams will re-engage on Lions home turf Saturday, with York hosting the Rams for a 5pm tip-off.
