The York University Lions field hockey team is looking to improve on their 2-1-1 record this week with two games on the docket.

The Lions will first face the Guelph Gryphons in Guelph in a rare Thursday night contest. These two teams met earlier this season with the Lions dominating the Gryphons on their way to a 6-0 victory behind a hat-trick from Kathryn Carlow that earned her York women's athlete of the week.

However, the Gryphons do find themselves at 3-1 on the year, winning two in a row since the loss to York. The Gryphons are led by Sophie Pomeroy who is currently leading the OUA in goals with five, and points with 10, just ahead of Carlow, who is in second in both categories with four goals and eight assists. Carlow will be looking for a big night against Guelph to try and pass Pomeroy on the leaderboard and give the Lions another victory over Guelph

Next, the Lions will suit up again on Sunday back on home turf home against the Toronto Varsity Blues. The Blues handed the Lions their only loss of the season so far in the opening game of the season when Toronto secured a 1-0 victory off a goal from Catalina Meilleur. York will look to hand Toronto its first loss of the year in this one, hoping to avenge their loss from earlier this season. York will be coming off their game with Guelph, while the Varsity Blues are scheduled to play the Queen's Gaels on Friday before their face-off against York.

Thursday's match gets underway at 7:00 p.m., while Sunday's game with the Varsity Blues is scheduled for at 11:00 a.m. at York's Alumni Stadium. Admission to Sunday's match is free.
