Title: Director of Campus Planning

A nuclear physicist, Dr. Arthur Johnson served as special assistant to the President in 1960-61 and director of Campus Planning from 1961 to 1966. His contribution as a founder was in facilities planning and design, and as principal advisor to Dr. Bryce Taylor during the planning for the Department of Physical Education and Athletics. From 1966 to 1968, Dr. Johnson was York's vice-president of academic services, after which he assumed a faculty position as a professor of physics. He was also York's founding men's basketball coach, serving from 1960 to 1972.
