Educated at Springfield College and the University of British Columbia, Dr. Bryce Taylor was founding Chairman and Director of the Department of Physical Education and Athletics, serving from 1964-76. He was responsible for overseeing the design and construction of the athletic facilities on the York campus and for developing the department's academic curricula and athletic programs. As founding Chairman and Director, he provided leadership and inspiration essential for a new program and department. Throughout his time at York, Dr. Taylor also made significant contributions to both the national and international sport scenes, serving in such capacities as president of the Canadian Gymnastics Federation and president of the Coaching Association of Canada. After 1976, he continued at York as a professor in the Department of Physical Education and Athletics.
