Robin Panzer played outside linebacker for the York Yeomen football team for a total of five seasons from 1969 to 1974. For two seasons, he doubled as the team's placekicker. He was selected OUAA all-star in 1971-72, 1972-73 and 1973-74 and was drafted by the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League in 1973. Continuing to graduate study in environmental studies at York, Panzer returned to play football for his final year of eligibility in 1973-74. The following year, he joined the York rugby team for which he played in 1974-75 and 1975-76. Panzer was an exceptional rugby flanker and was a major contributor to York's OUAA rugby championship in 1975-76.
