A professor of geography, George Tatham was the Dean of Students of York University from 1960 to 1967 (after which he served 10 years as Master of McLaughin College). Dr. Tatham was one of the University's strongest advocates of fitness, sport and the "whole man" concept in life. In York's early years, he integrated his philosophy in extracurricular student life and served as an advisor in the design of the physical education and athletics program.
