Nancy McDonnell spent two years with the York gymnastics team (1974-75, 1977-78). During that time, she captured three CWIAU individual gold medals, including the all-around championship in 1977-78. A member of two OWIAA championship teams, she won five individual gold medals and was the all-around champion at the 1977-78 OWIAA championships. York University's female athlete of the year in 1977-78, she competed in the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games as a member of the Canadian national team.
