York's first truly outstanding, national-level field hockey player, Sheila Forshaw led the Yeowomen to two OWIAA gold medals and two CIAU silver medals. Highlights of her playing career included all-Canadian selection four times, MVP at the CIAU national championships and being named York's female athlete of the year twice. She was also a member of the national team from 1976 to 1988 and was selected to three Canadian Olympic teams. Forshaw has worked in the School of Kinesiology & Health Science in several different roles, including as York's co-ordinator of interuniversity sport and more recently as the executive officer.
