A former Canadian junior tennis champion and nationally-ranked player, Nancy Green competed for York in the first singles position for four years, never surrendering a match until her final season. She led York to the gold at both the OQWCIA and the WITCA championships in 1968-69 and 1969-70. She also competed as York's second singles entrant in interuniversity badminton in 1967-68, finishing first in her division and being named the top female player at the OQWCIA championship. Doherty served on York's Women's Athletic Council (WAC) from 1968 to 1971, including one year as President (1969-70).
