Dave Chambers was head coach of the York men's hockey team for eight years (1972-77, 1984-87). During that time, York captured three OUAA titles and the team's first CIAU championship in 1984-85. The OUAA coach of the year in 1976-77, Chambers amassed an impressive conference coaching record of 118 wins, 34 losses and 10 ties. A Hockey Canada Master Coach, he coached four CIAU all-Canadians and 17 OUAA all-stars in his eight seasons at York. Chambers went on to coach in the NHL and also led Canada to a gold medal at the 1988 World Junior Hockey Championship. He was also a faculty member in the School of Kinesiology & Health Science from 1972 until his retirement in 2001.
